SURPRISE!!!!!!

This weekend the boys and I took a surprise trip to visit my family in Ohio. It was my Dad's 68th birthday and it had been over a year since I saw everyone. Since Ken is up to his elbow's and eyeballs in work we decided that I at should go with the boys. I was very nervous at attempting a solo flight with two small children--one of which who was/is still in the midst of intestinal distress and who also happens to be fundamentally opposed to being restrained for any period of time. But we did it and lived to tell the tale. The trip out went pretty smoothly--the boys were great. The return trip, however, was NOT so great. I think the cumulative affect of little to no sleep and being out of their element for three days took its toll on all of us. Without going into too much detail...let's just say ALL three of us were tired and crying on the flight home. Oy. But it was all worth it to see the look on my parent's faces. I would do it all again.

We leave in two week to go on vacation in NY to visit Ken's family. I look forward to seeing the area for the first time and meeting the rest of Ken's family and seeing where he grew up. I am hoping on the next trip it will be a cakewalk since Ken & I will both be there to wrestle Sawyer (and let me tell you...WRESTLE Sawyer I did the entire trip back.)
