I'll have what he's having

Yesterday when I got home from work Emily told me that Sawyer refused to take a nap--no matter how hard she tried. He fell asleep briefly in the car when she picked up the kids from art camp but other than that...nada. She said she tried something different by laying on the floor next to his bed and all he did was jump up and down and laugh at her. Operation Desperation Nap: FAIL. The thought of a sleep deprived Beanie made me a bit uneasy, since we were headed out to meet Ken's relatives for some swimming and pizza on the other side of town. I had visions of Beanie throwing screaming tantrums and wanting to be held non-stop (picture: the return flight home from Ohio). But wonder of wonders he was actually pretty good. He was initially skitterish but warmed up relatively quickly. Both boys splashed in the pool for a bit and then had pizza afterwards. By the time we got around to eating and chatting it was well after 9:30. Sawyer normally goes to bed at 7:30 and that is after having an hour or two nap. He was running on fumes but seemed to be energized by his sleep debt. The whole drive home we thought for sure he would sleep but no...he sat in the seat GIGGLING and moving up and down in excitement at seeing the lit cars and signs from the highway. By the time we got home it was after 10:00 and he was still laughing and having a good time. He went to bed but continued to wake up off and on through the night-wired.

Whatever energy source Beanie derives his power and stamina from, I sure wish he would share it with us.
