It's a beautiful day here in Coloraddy. I got up early so I could get in my long run before work. Normally I do my longer runs on the weekend but it didn't work out that way this weekend. I laid out all my gear last night and pledged I would try and get to bed by 10:00 but I ended up doing some sketches for work so I stayed up later than I wanted. Liam awoke at 4:40 with a wet bed which starts the usual chain reaction: Liam is crying because he wet the bed which wakes up Sawyer who realizes he is VERY hungry and begins to cry which wakes up the dogs who realize it's probably time for them to go out and pee which means (long story short) we are up for the day. So fighting every sane urge to lay back down I laced up my shoes and set out for my run.
I really love being out when the sun is rising and it is mostly just me and the animals. Today I saw lots of birds, bunnies and coyotes (which means there were probably LESS birds and bunnies on my return trip). It was crisp and sunny--very enjoyable. I'm always like an old truck when I run--it takes me a good 4 miles before I warm up enough and shift into gear. Since I am running out on paths I do an out and back run so I don't get lost. Usually my return portion of the run is much faster--not sure if this is because I am finally limbered up or because I just want to get the run over with. When I got back to the house Ken was ready to leave for work and both boys were still sleeping (Murphy's Law: Children will sleep LATE if they know you are getting up EARLY).
Have a good day everyone!
