This is a little gross discovery Ken made when I got back from my 20 miler this morning. My brand spanking new running shoes are now a lovely blood stained red. We've had an extraordinary amount of rain and because of it, the once hard-as-rock dirt trails are quagmires of mud and clay. While I was trying to run through the muck on my rainy long run this morning my shoes sank ankle deep in the mud and I kicked up a stone that must have wedged itself in the back of my shoe. I was at the half way point in the run and it started to lightning so I decided to ignore the sharp object in my shoe in the interest of not getting zapped by 1 billion volts of electricity. I think I made the right choice even despite the gory, bloody shoe.
A day (or week, depending on energy levels) in the life of a working illustrator/marathon running mommy of two small and very active boys and the wife of one bigger boy.
